6 Cool Benefits of Buying an RV to Travel Around the Country

Whether you’re retired, earn a passive income, have the kind of career that you can do from anywhere, or are simply taking a sabbatical from work and other responsibilities, buying an RV can be a great way to travel the country. The ease and freedom of RV travel offer unique opportunities.

1- Convenience

If you’ve ever driven around in vain looking for an open restaurant so you could eat or an affordable motel so you could sleep, you will appreciate the convenience that comes with having both a place to prepare food and to sleep at all times. An RV is essentially just a smaller, more portable version of your home.

2- Flexibility

That convenience means that when you travel by RV, you can leave your itinerary flexible. While you may need reservations for some campgrounds, by and large, you can generally find a place to park and stay for a few hours, including the parking lots of some stores. In addition, you can easily decide to remain somewhere for a shorter or longer period than you’d originally planned since you don’t have to worry about rebooking tickets and hotel rooms.

3- Bring What You Like

If you’ve ever debated whether to bring or leave a particular item of clothing or fretted about the weight of the luggage you’re taking on a plane, you will appreciate the convenience of being able to bring whatever you want with you on your RV. Of course, you will need to be somewhat minimalist to fit comfortably into the space, but you’ll be able to take a lot more than you could when traveling any other way.

4- Community

When you start traveling around in an RV, you are only as alone as you want to be. You will meet an enthusiastic community of other travelers, and if you want to keep in touch and continue meeting up with them, you will have plenty of opportunities to do so.

5- Bring Your Pets

While pet-friendly hotels exist, many places do not allow them, and travel in a car means hours of being cooped up for dogs and cats. When you travel in an RV, your pets can roam about freely. They also have the same home base night after night, which can be especially important for pets with anxiety or social issues.

6- Knowing Your Country

Most people never get the opportunity to see the country the way you will as you travel from place to place in your RV. You can go to small towns and out-of-the-way places that you’d be likely to miss if you only took a short vacation or flew to a city, and you can stay in one place for a while if you want to get to know it better.

Whether you decide to make your RV your only home for a few months or years or you use it as a second home on wheels, you’ll appreciate the ease of this option for seeing the country economically and at your own pace.
