7 Reasons to Not Let Your Home’s Pest Control Lapse in the Fall

There is much to enjoy during the fall. Cooler temperatures mean more time outdoors for activities like hiking, camping, or fall festivals. With the end of mosquito season, there’s no need to worry about pest control again until spring, right? As the seasons would have it, autumn also has its pests.

Fall is the time to prepare your home and yard for winter. Schedule a home pest control assessment. There are 7 reasons why we should not allow our home’s pest control to lapse in the fall.

1. Fall Pests Are Also Preparing for Winter

They need food and a warm place to live. Stink bugs normally congregate outside houses and buildings, but they want to come inside during the fall. The familiar sound of crickets chirping outside during summertime can become a totally different experience when they move inside our houses.

2. Stinging Pests Can Be Aggressive

In the fall, bees and wasps can become easily agitated, aggressive, and protective of their nests and their Queen. Their activity and numbers increase, and food supplies start to diminish. They also can make their way indoors more often.

3. Fall Pest Control Inspections Locate Where Pests Are Getting Into the House

The attic, basement, and cracks in the exterior of the house or garage can be points of entry for spiders, ants, rodents, and other pests. If infestations are found, a pest control expert can treat the home to prevent more pests and insects from coming in.

4. Leaves in the Yard Can Attract Pests

Piles of fall leaves in the yard can attract pests. If the leaves blow against the home, pests can get right into the house. Roaches, spiders, termites, and other pests like the moisture of the fall leaves can attract other insects and pests.

5. Pest Infestations Can Cause Extensive Damage to the Home

Wood-eating insects like carpenter ants and termites can cause billions of dollars worth of property damage annually. Rodents like mice and rats chew through drywall, damage wiring, the home’s insulation, and the roof.

6. Untreated Pest Infestations Can Cause Health Issues in Humans

Insect-borne diseases can cause serious symptoms if left untreated. Rodents, ticks, and other insects can cause infectious diseases. Asthma and allergy issues can be made worse by cockroaches. If there is concern about chemicals, natural pest control chemical-free methods can protect your family and pets.

7. Some Pests Can Be Active For More Than One Season

Termites may slow down and go into underground tunnels during cooler months, but they are still active in their tunnels. Fleas in some climates cause problems for pets even in the fall. Mosquitoes even can be active in the fall until temperatures drop to 60 degrees, which may not be until late fall.

A pest control consultation should be at the top of your fall checklist for your house and backyard spacet. Preventing pest issues can save money and time. Don’t let untreated pest problems turn into an infestation, which is more difficult to treat.
