Moving is never easy, even if you’ve been preparing by downsizing and decluttering. To make sure that your move is not overwhelming, using storage containers is often the better option. By packing smaller storage containers and storing them off-site, you will have better control of the whole process.
1. You Can Pack a Room at a Time
As you pack up your house and sort out exactly what you want to take, you can move it directly into the pod. If you’re moving in the winter, you can easily store pool toys, summer clothing, and other warm-weather gear and get it out of the house.
By loading portable storage boxes instead of trying to pack a truck in one day, you’ll have a better idea of how much truck space you’ll need. Your move may be labor-intensive, but it won’t be frantic. You can properly organize your move so that your move-in day will not be a series of frustrating challenges.
2. Empty Storage Containers Can Easily Be Placed in Your Driveway
Putting a portable storage container in your driveway won’t cut off access to your other entry points. You will still be able to get to part of your garage and you can still plan a moving sale if you choose. It also won’t block the street for the entire day of your move.
Single storage containers can be loaded when you have the time and picked up on your schedule. You can book an empty storage container at your convenience and load your next set of bins, boxes, and furniture.
3. You Can Avoid Overdoing it On Moving Day
Moving days can be exhausting if you have to load everything in one day. If you are injured in the moving process and still need to get everything in the truck, your moving plans can quickly go awry.
If you plan on hiring movers for the heaviest items, you can book them to load up a separate, smaller truck of furnishings. You may even be able to arrange to load a portion of your moving truck, later to be filled with your storage pods, so everything can go in one large truck.
4. You Can Easily Store Your Possessions if Your Move is Delayed
If you’re trying to buy, sell, and close on the same day, problems can crop up. With some of your possessions in a storage container, you have options, and having options could prove to be invaluable as changes occur to your plans.
Many storage container companies can rent you a temporary storage spot while you fix issues with your move. If changes need to be made to the financing or if your new house isn’t ready, you won’t have all of your possessions in one truck and no place to put them.
No move will ever be completely smooth. You will always have delays and challenges will invariably arise. However, by packing your home into smaller storage containers and in an orderly fashion, you can have better control of the entire process.
