The following is an excerpt from Why The Law Of Attraction Is Bullshit: And What To Do Instead
“Ask the Universe, and you will receive.” That is the message that has been sent by many self-help writers, particularly those preaching about ideas like the law of attraction and positive thinking. The Secret comes to mind. Sure, a little science supports bits and pieces of these ideas, but none of them will hold up as a whole for changing your life.
You cannot simply expect the universe to hand you whatever it is that you need in life. If people had the power to change their lives simply by changing their mindsets, things like homelessness, unemployment, and average life struggles would be easy to overcome. The idea would spread until eventually, nobody in life was struggling, and everyone was happy.
The untrustworthiness of self-help comes from the way that people discuss it. For each technique, there are real-life examples of it happening. What people don’t tell you is that their success stories only amount to a small percentage of people that will get rich, be happier, or achieve whatever other goal they have in life by following ideas like positive thoughts or attracting things into their life through prayer or willing it to happen. This is a clear case of confirmation bias.
Not only is there only a small percentage of people that find success with these techniques—these ideas harm society as a whole because they preach the wrong ideas about happiness. After all, if you are constantly striving for something bigger and better, when do you take the time to be happy with what you have achieved?
Now, don’t think that this means you can never achieve happiness. It simply means that society looks at happiness the wrong way. So it becomes this idealistic pursuit that seems wonderful—but is also impossible. Or is it?
This website will break down everything that you need to know to take control of your own life. It will not tell you to ask the universe and try to will the things you want into existence. Instead, it will analyze self-help techniques and pick them apart until nothing but valuable information is left. Therefore, the ideas in this website will not be surrounded by fluff and nice words. Rather, we will teach you to take the actions that you need to find happiness and success in your life. This can be done by finding the valuable pieces of different self-help techniques and applying them to your life.
Imagine for a moment that you have a friend or family member who complains that they are not working—but they have never filled out a job application. Instead, they spend their day doing meaningless activities, believing that if they ask the universe for a job, someone will call out of the blue. Or, maybe they will go to the grocery store and run into someone who gives them a job offer.
Now, think about what you would tell that friend. Would you ask them to keep doing what they are doing, or would you ask them to start taking action in their life? Nobody can expect to be handed a job without filling out job applications—and that is doing the bare minimum.
Take that scenario and apply it to your life. If simple wishful thinking is not enough to get someone a job, why would it be good enough to help you achieve whatever your version of success is?
Fortunately, if you have decided to read this blog, you have already made a critical decision to invite change into your life. You have agreed to set aside the ideas presented by some of the most popular self-help topics and learn more about them. You have chosen to reevaluate what you think about happiness and bring yourself to a correct version of success—one that you are responsible for getting into your life. You no longer have to resort to sham-like laws of attraction or switchwords to achieve success in life.

Hi,
You are right. I am affirmations are good practice to attract anything. It would be better result if we practice this before visualization.
Best of luck.
