With A Massive Second Wave Hitting Israel Already, What Does This Mean for Families Living in Israel?
The coronavirus pandemic has had a massive impact on everyone. This includes Israel. For those who might not know, Israel actually did very well with the pandemic at first. They are one of the first countries to shut down and were able to achieve a relatively low transmission rate. Unfortunately, this success did not last. The Israeli Government actually went on TV and declared victory. As a result, people immediately let their guards down.

The results were predictable. The virus was not gone. In reality, it was simply still there. The measures that people were taking were simply keeping the transmission rate low. Now, with these safeguards removed, the virus is spreading. The infection rate in Israel has become one of the highest in the world. Without a doubt, a second wave has truly arrived in force. With this in mind, what does this mean for you? What does this mean for families in Israel?
The Israeli Economy Is In Shambles
The reality is that the Israeli economy is struggling significantly right now. One of the top industries in Isreal is technology. Even technology is suffering. Many businesses have been forced to close that might not reopen in the near future. Other industries, such as hospitality and tourism, are an absolute shambles. Because people are not able to travel right now, particularly if they would just like to go on vacation, these industries are suffering significantly. Even though there are some businesses that are able to absorb a lockdown, a second lockdown could spell doom for many businesses across the country. Therefore, everyone has to take advantage of every resource available to them in order to make it through this. With a second wave here, it is likely that this lockdown is going to last for a while.
The Health Concerns Still Abound
Even though many people are focused on the economic fallout of the pandemic, it is important not to overlook the health concerns as well. This is a very real virus that can lead to symptoms that might result in death. Therefore, everyone has to know how to reduce the risk of viral spread in their local communities.
First, people need to limit their travel to only what is necessary. The less people go outside, the lower the risk of transmitting the virus to someone else. Second, when people do go out, they need to wear a mask all the time. It can significantly reduce the risk of viral transmission. Finally, people need to wash their hands regularly to minimize the spread of the virus.
The Virus Is Still With Us: A Vaccine Is Needed
For anyone who thinks the viruses in the rearview mirror, this is simply wrong. The reality is that this virus is going to be with us until we have a vaccine. It is unlikely that a vaccine is going to be readily available until 2021. Furthermore, it is also going to take some time to create enough doses of the vaccine to adequately vaccinate the entire population.
Therefore, everyone has to keep their guards up. In order to keep the rates of viral transmission as well as possible, it is important for everyone to listen to local health experts. Remember that some people are at a much higher risk for developing severe complications from this virus than others. Everyone has to work together to wash their hands, remain socially distant, and wear a mask in order to protect the most vulnerable among us.
