Weight is an issue that millions of people deal with regularly. Whether losing just a few pounds or completely transforming our bodies, it depends on each person. But the simple fact of the matter is that getting out of that hole can be difficult.
The prospect of “getting up and moving” can be simple, but it is far more complex than you may have realized. When life takes over, it can feel like there are a million things to do and not enough time to do it all.
Unfortunately, part of that “to-do” list can mean being physically active. When you have to work, care for a family, do your homework, or whatever else is on your list, the last thing you may want to do is find time to work out.
But the key to a healthy lifestyle is being physically active. So, if you have been struggling with energy levels, weight, or any other physical issues, the key may be simply getting active again. It takes a good inspirational story to get you moving in the right direction again.
Here are three stories, in particular, that will show you that life transformation is possible and easier than you think.
1. David
This is probably one of the most famous instances of life transformation that you can find. It all began with The Ellen Degeneres Show, where the guest star was none other than renowned fitness guru Richard Simmons. Simmons has become a polarizing figure throughout his time in the industry. He is both famous and somewhat mocked because of his over-the-top personality.
But on this show, one of the producers, David, was offered help by Simmons to help get him back on track physically. At the beginning of the process, David was 402 pounds and desperately in need of a physical transformation.
It all started with David writing down everything he ate using a food log. After that, he would bring his meals to work with him, was okay giving in to some of his cravings, and (most importantly) began to exercise.
His transformation is not an overnight one; it took two years to happen. But David has been able to lose and keep off over 160 pounds. It was about keeping healthy options available because he knew those temptations would come and that he would have difficulty fighting them off.
Combined with a new work ethic that kept him moving and active, he was able to transform his body and life for the better. It doesn’t have to be about reinventing the wheel; it is simply about finding a plan that works for our specific needs. That and a little bit of dedication can go a long, long way.
2. Megan
Sometimes there is more at play than simply not having the drive or motivation to get up and get moving. Other things in life can substantially impact how we approach things, such as our health and fitness.
Megan is an excellent example of that. She found herself in a long, abusive relationship. Being in a situation like that can play a tremendous role in our psychological and physical health.
Being in a negative situation for so long, she found her weight creeping up towards the 260-pound mark. She then had the revelation that she should be spending her time and effort making life that she could not only be proud of but that she could love rather than hating herself.
Her friend asked her if she wanted to join a local weight loss program. The program helps members lose weight through healthy eating, daily activity, and group support. She agreed and, with time and effort, she lost 70 pounds.
She found that the weight shift was beneficial not only for her body but also for her mental health. She found that with the proper support and a better outlook on her physical health, she could begin living in a healthier state of mind.
It is the kind of transformation that goes much deeper than the body. When we let our mental health deteriorate, it can have a far-reaching impact on our entire life.
3. Jessica
Not every transformation story has to be one shrouded in negativity. It can simply be about wanting to feel better about how we look and feel when heading into a critical life situation. That was the case with Jessica.
Her motivation came when her boyfriend proposed to her. When she saw herself in photos, she wasn’t pleased with her appearance. So, she decided that she needed to make a change. That is the key to any life transformation: it has to be something that you are ready to do mentally before you can do it physically.
With proper dieting and activity, she managed to drop 115 pounds naturally in anticipation of her big wedding day. All she has to offer in advice is that you have to be ready to commit to changing your life. If you don’t believe that you are capable of the change, you aren’t prepared to make that change.
By being ready to commit to the change entirely, you can make the change become a reality. Whether it is saving to lose 10 pounds or 100, it will take time and effort. A life transformation is about transforming the rest of your life, not just making some quick fly-by-night change.
